ZERO TOLERANCE Protocols - New for Fall 2024

ZERO TOLERANCE! New Protocols for Referees on Dealing with Dissent starting fall 2024:

PROTOCOLS PDF CLICK HERE

Spectator Misbehavior
Stop the game, bring the coaches to the center circle, ask them identify the person and have the person leave*. If the coach does not comply, or the person does not leave, do not restart the game. Leave the field as a team, contact your assignor, report the situation in the game report or the referee abuse app.  REFEREES DO NOT ENGAGE WITH SPECTATORS
* "Leave" means, the referee cannot see or hear the person/people who was/were asked to leave.

Coach Misbehavior
At the first sign of dissent, do not talk to the coach. Show the caution (yellow card). If it continues, do not talk to the coach. Show the caution, and since it’s the second one, follow that with a send-off (red card). If the coach does not leave, do not restart the game. Leave the field as a team, contact your assignor, report the situation in the game report or the referee abuse app.

WSA/CJSA SAFETY GUIDELINES

INCLEMENT WEATHER.  CJSA Lightning/Thunder Policy:

Lightning – Recognizing the threat.
Apply the 30-30 rule: When you see lightning, count the time until you hear thunder. If this time is 30 seconds or less, seek proper shelter. If you can’t see the lightning, just hearing the thunder is a good back-up rule.
Wait 30 minutes or more after hearing the last thunder before leaving shelter. Referees must protect the safety of all participants by stopping game activities quickly, so that participants and spectators may retire to a safer place before the lightning threat becomes significant. Remember, if you can hear the thunder, you are within reach of lightning

Goal Safety:
All goals must be secured with filled sandbags to prevent tipping.  If sandbags are not on the field, check the plastic storage coffins at the edge of the field.
