(TRYOUTS REQUIRED) 

Travel Program Overview 2025-2026 SEASON
Our Travel program is a competitive, ability-based, three-season program (fall/winter/spring) for U8–U19 teams. Tryouts are typically held each May for the upcoming fall season. Teams compete in the CJSA league against nearby towns in Southwest CT. Professional coaching is provided by Mickey Kydes Soccer (U8–U13) and Staples High School coaches (U14–U15). Parent volunteers are encouraged to support as team managers or assistant coaches, subject to coach needs and required town/state certifications.

Age Group Header 
New Age Group Cut-off for 2026-27 Season: August 1 - July 31

Starting with the 2026-27 season, youth soccer is moving from the calendar-year (January-December) model to a seasonal-year (August-July) model for competitive (travel & higher) age grouping. This change better aligns soccer teams with school grade levels and provides more consistency for player development.

WSA Notice:

WSA Directors & Mickey Kydes are currently reviewing all WSA players and will be announcing our strategy on how to best adopt the new policy about age groups. We have no information about this or any individual player at this moment. More details will be provided in late February after the school break.

Age Matrix for 2026-2027 Season:

  • U15: Born August 1, 2011 – July 31, 2012

  • U14: Born August 1, 2012 – July 31, 2013
  • U13: Born August 1, 2013 – July 31, 2014
  • U12: Born August 1, 2014 – July 31, 2015
  • U11: Born August 1, 2015 – July 31, 2016
  • U10: Born August 1, 2016 – July 31, 2017
  • U9: Born August 1, 2017 – July 31, 2018
  • U8: Born August 1, 2018 – July 31, 2019
  • U7: Too young for WSA travel
  • U6 Too young for WSA travel

A reminder that FIFA Law #4 is fully enforced by referees and coaches for player safety:

A player must not use equipment or wear anything that is dangerous. All items of jewelry (necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, leather bands, rubber bands, etc.) If a player does not comply with this rule, he/she must sit out of play. Thank you for your cooperation.
