ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST COMPLETE THE ONLINE REQUIREMENTS BELOW IF THEY INTEND TO COACH OR MANAGE A TEAM THIS FALL 2023
IF YOU ARE A 1st TIME VOLUNTEER, ALLOW UP TO 3.5 HOURS TO COMPLETE ALL THE TRAINING. DO NOT WAIT!
STEP 1: REGISTER AS A VOLUNTEER ON THE WSA WEBSITE
- Log into www.westportsoccer.org
(new users must create a new account)
(current users log in to your existing account)
- Hover over your account Profile Image on the top right of the page and select Account.
(or click button "manage acounts" then "view account" )
- Click Volunteer on the left side of page;
- Choose Find Volunteer Roles
- Follow the registration steps, choose your volunteer role(s) and complete forms.
- Upload any training certificates you have. If you do not have any certificates, don't worry, continue to Step 2 below.
STEP 2: SUBMIT A CJSA BACKGROUND CHECK (RISK STATUS)
expires every 2 years.
- Log into your account on www.westportsoccer.org
- Hover over your Profile Image on the top right of the page and select Account.
- Click on Volunteer on the left menu bar to display My Roles&Certificates
- Select the box next to Risk Status and then click Renew & Update
- Follow prompts and answer required questions and SUBMIT
- Still confused? Follow these instructions
STEP 3: COMPLETE SAFESPORT TRAINING
(Coach/Player Misconduct Recognition online training - expires yearly) - must be a current certificate as of 8/01/2023
- Log into your account on www.westportsoccer.org
- Hover over your Profile Image on the top right of the page and select Account (or click my account/manage/view account)
- Click on Volunteer on the left menu bar to display My Roles & Certificates
- Select the box next to SafeSport and then click Renew & Update
- You will be prompted to Login or Register with SafeSport
- Complete the SafeSport Training or Refresher
This includes a 90-min video for New Vols or a 30-min refresher for Return Vols
or if you already completed 3 prior refreshers, then complete the 90 minute training again.
- The system will automatically update your completion status with CJSA
- If you already have a SafeSport certificate, you can upload it or send to [email protected]

STEP 4: COMPLETE (or Renew) NAYS COACH MEMBERSHIP & NAYS SOCCER COACH CERTIFICATION (for asst & head coaches only)
(membership expires yearly, training does not)
TRAINING DURATION: up to 2.5 hours
Returning NAYS members
log into: https://www.nays.org/ and renew your annual membership or any other training
Are you new to NAYS?
Go to NAYS Coach Training scroll down the page and click the green "Register/Login" button
Create a NAYS account (affiliated organization is "Westport Soccer Association")
You want to select NAYS COACH (not parent) for training:
- Complete the 3-part coach training to receive a NAYS coach certificate (this training does not expire):
1) Coaching Youth Sports
2) Basic Youth Sports Safety & First Aid
3) Sport Specific Training - Coach Youth Soccer 10 & Under
Upload your NAYS certificate to your volunteer account on www.westportsoccer.org
If your NAYS membership expired
log in to www.nays.org and renew your membership for an annual $20 fee or multiple year fee.
STEP 5: COMPLETE CONCUSSION TRAINING (NAYS or CDC HeadsUp is acceptable)
(training certificate does not expire) training is FREE

STEP 6: COMPLETE online CPR CERTIFICATE (free) - one adult needed per team.
